Yet another eBay travesty (ripping off the memory of John Peel)
Posted by: Guido Fawkes on 07 December 2005
Up until a few weeks ago you could freely access lots of HMHB mp3s on their web site, but some unscrupulous scum downloaded all the Peel Sessions MP3s, burnt them onto CD and are auctioning them on eBay for vastly inflated prices on the back of the recent John Peel Day. eBay is doing nothing to stop them. So the HMHB Audio page has been emptied of content to stop it continuing.
Nigel Blackwell (HMHB main man) says: Re-this E-bay thing....I can't say I've ever been bothered about folk bootlegging HMHB (see Wilde) but I don't particularly enjoy it being done for profit on the back of John Peel. No qualms whatsoever about everyone getting stuff for free in this manner but I'm not even sure it's legal with this one as I presume it's the property of the BBC
So a few idiots have now spoilt everyone else's fun.

PS - Half Man Half Biscuit are on a free John Peel tribute CD given away with the January 2006 issue of UNCUT magazine (available now). The CD, titled JOHN PEEL'S FESTIVE 15, comprises 15 tracks which made Peel's annual Festive 50 listeners poll, including "The Trumpton Riots" which reached No 14 in 1986. The CD also includes The Wedding Present, The House Of Love, The Sugarcubes, Billy Bragg, Felt, Pavement, The Field Mice, The Woodentops, Camper Van Beethoven, Spizzenergi, Wah!, The Bhundu Boys, Robert Wyatt and The Fall.
