One can't help but assume design and looks have moved on a bit though, they might be naim but could be any generic wood box from the 70s.

Alex, where moving parts and foam are concerned, yes, yes it is.

Never mind to the grilles, whats the speaker surrounds likely to be like?

Anyhow good luck to however bought them, but I am thinking, hook line sinker.

And it's not only about wear and tear, but the extent to which modern technology has facilitated the design and build of far superior speakers...

I paid £200 for a pair of 8-10 year old Ruark Talisman II loudspeakers in mint condition a couple of years ago.

£155 for a pair of 30 year old speakers with no grilles, what looks to be different tweeters, and made by a company that at that time had very little experience of building loudspeakers...
