iOS 4.2 upgrade - any issues with n-stream?

Posted by: okli on 24 November 2010

Hi,

has someone already upgraded to iOS 4.2 - prior to do that I'd like to be sure n-steam is working fine on 4.2.

TIA,
Ilko

I have updated to 4.2, but have encountered the following problem. (see my e-mail to Naim below)I'll reset my i-Pod Touch as Steven Hopkins suggests, but it would be interesting to know if anyone has a similar experience.

E-mail to Naim :
To rid myself of the crackling sound/docking problems with 4.1 I have updated my 3rd gen. i-pod Touch soft/firmware with 4.2.
At first glance it appears to have cured the sound issue, but introduced others.

1. In order for the Touch to dock and the nDAC to read the music files successfully it seems to require the Touch be switch off completely before attaching to the nDAC.
The Touch powers up and files are played, though not docking as effortlessly as 4.0 did.

2. When playing commences the Touch assumes a battery charging status. When I press the dock for 1 second to disable charging ( as per Naim manual), the Touch undocks
When I press the dock button again I get the following message "This accessory is not supported by iPod Touch."
In order to successfully re-dock I have to remove the Touch from the Apple docking cable and power it down completely. Returning to step one is required to resume
successful connection.
I haven't investigated any other quirks as yet,but I'm sure your R&D team will be onto it now that 4.2 has been released.

Thanks for the infos - I took the risk and everything seems ok after the upgrade. I have to figure out now how I can "AirPrint", but this has nothing to do with this forum.

The sly dogs have us all buying a new printer from HP. It appears that there 5 or so new printers from HP that will freely accept Airprint from Apple devices so far. If there is a work around I'd like to hear about it also.

At which time we'll have Apple iPrinter, which connected to Airport express can be controlled with airprint and can print the tv shows from Apple TV, but only if you watch them on Apple 30" cinema display Big Grin

Not too restrictive, 'cos every one has Apple cinema display don't they?

Why would you want to print a TV programme?

for the sake of apple madness ;-) - but this printer won't print MS Office files at all... well, may be with external software...
