I'm sure there must be a fix on the Apple website........

Yes you can. It's much better to have a hardwired cradle for it so that it will charge while playing, but not only that, the sound quality will be better if it's coming from the base port rather than the 3.5mm jack. It costs a little more but it's worth it. The signal can go either into an auxilary input on the car head unit or otherwise into a modulator that uses the aerial input, and you just have a preset station on the radio to select it. Sound quality is excellent. I paid around £160 to have it fitted by a specialist car audio place who knew what they were about, and it's all neatly hidden in an armrest compartment between the front seats.

Yes you can. It's actually quite simple to do a reset and you won't lose anything. Just flip the lock switch a few times and then press and hold the central select button. You will get the Apple start-up logo and it will reboot. It takes around a minute and fixes almost anything.

Yes you can. All the talk and bad press regarding battery life is sour grapes. Look on ebay and you can get replacement batteries with enhanced life and full instructions for fitting very reasonably indeed. They work fine and everyone seems to go this route now. It'll take about 15 minutes to fit, and if you are capable of changing a plug, you'll find it very easy.

No, I wouldn't do that with mine.

Yes you can. Download PodUtil off the web (search for it with Google) and install it. I use it and it's brilliant. I've backed up my whole ipod too. You can now have a new folder in itunes with a replica of your ipod contents on the desktop. Recommended utility. Another moan from the anti-Apple lobby put to bed. It'll also do more than just upload and download.
