Recent purchases I can recommend

I had a business trip to London this week, and gave the VISA card some hammer in HMV, Virgin and Tower, where the choice is so much better than "up north". Here are some earlier recent purchases that I can thoroughly recommend, both for the music and sound quality.

NILS LOFGREN - Break Away Angel
KATHRYN WILLIAMS - Old Low Light
JAMES TAYLOR - October Road
JACKSON BROWNE - Naked Ride Home
KARRIN ALLYSON - In Blue

Got to agree with the Jackson Browne.

In fact I think I will play it tonight.

Be seeing you

I've only heard James Taylor's October Road, but it's superfine. He's better than ever.

I've just bought these on vinyl, new:

Elvis - "That's The Way It Is" - 5 lp box set.
Sounds superb. All live from Vegas, rehersals and all.

Elvis - "Live in Las Vegas" - 5 lp box set.
Another Vegas box set that sounds superb.

Stone Roses - "Very Best Of" - my initial reaction was that it sounds a little compressed, but after playing it more and louder, it is full of life. The mastering is from the original master tapes.

Badly Drawn Boy - "Have You Fed The Fish" - it's different and sounds pretty good. Some tracks are weak and not as good as the single that was released.

Presage: Outer Perimeter

It's quite old now, but I've only just managed to get a copy. It's Jel (the guy who did Greenball), Dose One, and Mr Dibbs. It's a collage of funky beats, unusual samples, and weird paranoid raps and vocal snatches around the theme of conspiracy theories.
