Favourite place in Middle Earth, man?

For me it has to be somewhere between The Old Forest, and Beorn's Hall.

If I won the Lottery, I'd build a replica.

I'll play.

I'd mostly be curious about some of the places that aren't described in the book. Southern Gondor perhaps, or the north of Arnor. Failing that, I'd retrace the journey from Shire to Rivendell, the shortcut Ghan Buri Ghan led the Rohirrim on, or the journey through Ithilien to Minas Morgul. I'm assuming the war is over and there's nothing too evil about. Actually, I'd like to see it all, so I don't really think I answered your question.

I just drove from Kotor in Montenegro to Sarajevo via Mostar and part of that involved driving through a near-endless seeming valley that was a ringer for that marsh place on the way to Mordor.

Kind of beautiful in a bleak sort-of way. But it was a grey day in March, so hardly fair. Montenegro is lovely, Bosnia still looks war-torn and was extremely humbling.

As they said in family guy, why did the wizard just send the boy on the godamn flying bird to drop it in the fire?

Would have saved a whole lot of writing.

If on Middle Earth it would have to be Doriath or Gondolin, but it would be nice to have a peak at Valinor.

I definitely second Gondolin. If not, then Laurelindórenan.

Did any old grey zimmer frame driver go to the original Middle Earth at the Roundhouse Chalk Farm in 1967/8 ???
All nighter Saturday thru Sunday morning with numbers of the great bands of the time - Nice TYA Tull Who ISB - all in one night.

Those where the days I was told, just wish I could remember ..... Well it was the 60's ..... Winker

The Rohan of the book as opposed to the Rohan of the film - with Shadowfax in the stable and Eowyn in a big feather bed. The glittering caves of Aglarond would be a good place to set up the hifi.

I would like to check out Moria now that the Balrog is gone.

I would also be curious to find out where the door that Aragorn and the guys found on their way through the Paths of the Dead goes to.

I know that neither reply actually answers the question, but there you go. It wouldn't be the forum if people stayed on topic Big Grin

This reminds me of those huddles of certain boys at school, Dr Who scarves, military surplus greatcoats and webbing haversacks decorated with biro Tolkein hieroglyphs, stuffed full of their SMP Maths, Further Maths, Further Further Maths... books. And who had really progresed beyond the Tolkeinian foothills of The Hobbit and LotR to the promised land of The Silmarilian...?

Happy days!

But not a gang I was ever in, or wanted to be...

I will admit to having SMP Maths 'O' level, but none of the other stuff Winker

Eowyn's big feather bed seems a reasonable place from which to start my quest.

Off to the Strasse tonight, Dennis. Some photos you'd like of the gang on Facebook - I'm friends with eg. Billy Taylor, Tony Coon etc

I had to bring the 'briks back, if you recall...

I asked her. She says thanks but no thanks she ain't into threesomes. Tis a pity but as you know tis best not to argue with her lest she lops off your head. Why don't you try the other one - the Elf? She scrubs up very well and you won't ever have to trade her in for a younger model!

Mike, Billy & Para have my new contact info. Give my regards to all at Strasse.
Thanks for narrowing down the search for the Isos, I now need a bit more scale for my music.
When we speak I'll let you know about the renovation project I'm doing.
