Changing sound!
Posted by: zep on 08 October 2006
hi,
usually, when going away at weekends etc, i power down and unplug the cables. but, when plugging everything in place again, i never get the same sound again. sometimes more bass, less treble. sometimes more harshness etcetera. i do not know how this can be? the sound is good, but never the same sound!
please help - why?
cheers zep.

JUST TRY IT !
Peter Belt has been saying this for 20 years but thankfully most sensible people ignore him. Sadly, I believe that there are still some folk buying his ridiculously priced crocodile clips, sheets of tinfoil & electret cream. P.T. Barnum was undoubtedly right.
Anyway, you seem to have missed my point, which is that you can hear a difference because you are predisposed to do so.

Come, come Mike. After all of Peter's recent labours to improve your system, you surely aren't going to allow a simple bookcase to prevent you from extracting that final ounce of performance ...

my wife often refers to me as the epitome of cynicism
however
at my age crawling about the floor without the certainty of somone to help me up is risky
but i did it yes got up but also tryed the plug thing
and b*gger me there was a change it sounded compressed when i tightened it and more open when loosened it
which is how it was . as id left it loose when i wall papered the room
so im going tp leave it alone
call me mad or hallucinatory but there was a difference
double blind study to follow when my friend gets back from holiday
if my wife new about this shed have me sectioned
maybe she would have a point

The Chap may indeed deserve a hearing. He does after all join the illustrius band of men and women, who since the days when the Royal Society was founded, have been ridiculed for their findings, Merely because they were not understood.
Besides, I have nothing to lose, my wife already thinks I am crazy.

Chaps back!
When my highly respected, level headed, rational, sane, intelligent and financially draining dealer showed me this tweak, he did it as a blind listening test. In other words I had no idea what he was doing. I heard the change, I was not hypnotised or tortured, mentally or otherwise.
Well done Mike! ....Next?

She would certainly have a point but I'm not sure how your new sectional shed is relevant ...

Of course not.
Allow me to introduce my next tweak. It involves a bucket of bulls blood and some jos sticks. What you do is take the bucket.......

Nice perceptive comment from you Mike.
I wonder if those of you who are dismissive of this tweak, are frightened to try it, in case you are proven wrong?
In medicine clinical evidence often comes before scientific evidence. In other words if it works it works. You can find out how later. If everything was based on percieved wisdom according to the status quo, Naim Hi-Fi would not exist.
