'The Wall' is a Waters narrative album, but not an album for those who love Gilmour or Wright's playing (Nick Mason was just there in the background).

I just find it dull, I think the balance was just right on 'Animals' and 'Wish You Were Here' was Gilmour's finest moment.

The Wall is PANTS and I mean sequin studded 22" flared bright burgundy PANTS! ..truly Water's penchant for smugly berating the apparent distance between the audience and the band knew no bounds on The Wall ...tis funny I admit that I love DSTOM yet simply have never liked The Wall ....any other Floyd lovers (and I'm not a true fanatic) agree?

I tried several Miles Davies albums same thing every time, I'll not bother to re-visit again, life's too short and there is so much more other music out there.

Hmmm ... can't believe anybody could think ELP or ELO are overrated - Keith Emerson is great bloke and without listening to him I may never have found out just how great many classics are - ELO made Eldorado one of the greatest records of all time. I don't agree on Macca.

The others in your list I have little issue with - I can't believe anybody really believes George Michael's records breakdown social taboos.

According to record collector Queen are second only to the Fab Four in terms of the most collectable group - strange I haven't got a single record by them.

There are artist who critics seem to speak of with great reverence who mean nothing to me - I mentioned some soul singers earlier and I could also include Marvin Gaye - but one artist who bores me silly and is a darling of critics is Iggy Pop - whenever I hear him I think I'm Bored.

Oh well ......

Naturally and Martha Johnson and Cara Luft and ... anybody remember the Bachman Turner Overdrive ... also Joni, Steppenwolf ....

I think it is strange that all the best singer/songwriters wear floppy hats, but I guess that is a sign of the times.

This thread makes me feel normal - it's funny how nearly all the bands/artists named on this thread I've always thought are overrated too.
Apart from Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, The Stones, Elvis Costello, The Beatles (don't like the early girly stuff - but George Harrison stuff is excellent), who are all top drawer!
(have no strong opinion about Pink Floyd)

Defnitely U2, and I am sorry to say this Eric Clapton (yes he wrote some very good songs but his style of playing is so average compared to Jimi Hendrix, Marc Knopfler, Rithchie Blackmore. Carlos Santana and many more guitarists), I always felt he was a white mans answer to blues player but without the x factor.

REM.

Completely and utterly overrated - ghastly chiming "alt rock" group fronted by a pretentios baldie and listened to by drippy couples.

Yuk!

Although I am a religious fan of Deep Purple, I always thought their album called ' Come and Taste the Band' was a highly pretentious, self ego massaging title something akin to 'Spinal Tap' aspirations. Although the contents of the album were not so bad but did not rise to the expectations of the title!
