To MP3 or not to MP3, that is the question?

Hello,

I am new to Naim and I am in the final process of securing a NAC 82 and hicap to go along with my Olive 250 poweramp. Cant wait.

Please don't bite my head off for audio blaspheming but I have a lot of music on MP3 and flac (I know it is a bit of a taboo subject from reading previous discussions) but are many of you playing MP3's? If so what players are you using?

Welcome to the forum.

82/HC/250 is a wonderful combination, but worthy of far more than MP3. Nothing wrong with FLAC though, I have my entire CD collection ripped to FLAC which I play through a Linn Accurate DS.

Also, not a taboo subject at all - if you're not familiar with it, there is a separate part of the Naim forum dedicated to distributed audio, where these sort of things are regularly discussed.

I am only using mp3's where there is no choice, e.g. internet radio and such. At least I suggest you from now on use lossless formats whenever possible. For hi-fi, using various streamers from the Squeezebox-line of products.
