I'm just moving my system and it's all got to go on one rack.
Which should go furthest away from my source and pre - hicaps or power amp? And why (just so I can learns something!!)

Hi James,
77 views of this thread and no answers, where is everybody?
Without knowing exactly what you've got the answer can only be a guideline: Place the components with the biggest 'brawn factor' (i.e. transformers) the furthest away from your source 'brain' components.
As you mentioned hicaps in the plural, those two may well be better off going on the very bottom shelf, above which stands the power amp (assuming you have just one) with its one, larger t/former then above that the preamp (with a gap if you can manage it) then above that go your source components.
But for cabling reasons you may wish to have power amp at very bottom with hi-caps above.
Best regards,
Richard.
