Nac 82 + second Hicap

I have a CDX,82,one recapped hicap and a 250. What are the benefits of adding a second (recapped and a great price) hicap? Or should I save my hundreds and get a XPS? Thanks Ted.

The XPS will be a more significant upgrade in your system ,albeit at a grater price. A second hicap for your 82 is definitely worthwhile...and quite good vfm in terms of sound per £
Sorting your mains, if you have not already done so is incredible value for money (and enhances the improvements heard with an XPS or Hicap)

Are both the Hi caps the same style, ie. chrome bumpers or olive faces? Some say mixing the two styles (different transformers) can mess up the sound. Then there is also saving your money towards a Super for the 82.
Still, at the end of the day, if the 'caps match and it's a good price (as you indicate), I wouldn't walk away from a low price/high value step up.

The second hicap is chrome bumper style like my other hicap, both have been recapped by nana in the last two years. Thanks Ted.

XPS for the CDX makes sense.
Don't bother with a second hicap for the 82, just save and get a supercap.
The 82 reveals just how good it really is with a supercap.

The second HiCap is a nice boost for the 82, but the XPS is a really big jump.
If it was a straight choice, you would do the XPS now instead.
If you bought the HiCap, how much longer would you have to wait before you could get the XPS, too?
