Pioneer LX91 via AV2 analogue connection problem

Posted by: Morri on 01 February 2009

I am having a problem connecting my Pioneer LX91 through the analogue connections of my AV2.
I am using cables supplied by my dealer as the Naim Av2 has Din connections with specific connections split across 2 Din sockets.
My speakers are also Bi-amp’d.
When I go into the set-up menus and try to set the levels for each speaker the test signal for the left channel comes through the left and right channel bass cones. The test signal for the right channel again comes through both left and right speakers but this time through the mid and treble cones.
I cannot hear a test signal through the Sub either.
My system is as follows:

Pioneer LX91 to AV2 to Naim Nac52 to 2x Bryston 4BSST to B&W 802D (front), Castle Richmond (rear), B&W centre, B&W ASW 855 (Sub)

I have checked all of the cable terminations against the manuals and all appear to be correct.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Sounds like the cable has been wired up incorrectly?

Glad to report problem solved. Dealer cam round and discoverd that I had incorrectly wired up the speakers with my Bi-amping set up. I had cleaned down the system a while ago and thought I had labelled the leads on dismantling the system to avoid mistakes! sadly not.
Anyway allworking properly now and sounding amazing.

How is the LX91 ?

Did you try it against any others, the Denon 3800 or Marantz 8002 ?

Cheers, Steve.

No I didn't reference against the Denon or Marantz. Not clever i know but I have always stuck with Pioneer from my first DVD through two other Blu-Rays (LX70 and LX 70A). this is by far the best yet and because you have the ability to adjust the levels of the output on the analogue channels I can now connect using that method through the AV2 making use of the latest soundtrack developments.
The picture is stunning but as I say I have not done any A/B comparisons.

Morri, maybe this is a silly question, but can you actually get a stereo ananolg signal out of this beast?? Couldn't find anything that looked both analog AND stereo on the pictures on the Pioneer website. For this reason, I'm planning to buy the LX-71, although I'd be very interested in the LX-91.

I think this page from the manual gives you the answer you are looking for.
You need to go to the pioneer web site and find the manual for the LX 91. Page 53 is the one you want.
I interpret it to say that it does output to 2ch stereo, but you must make your own judgment on that.

Thank you very much for the info MorriSmile It's my understanding that the beast can actually output a stereo signal.
