A new thread to avoid confusion (I hope!).
On tonight we have the original line-up of Pentangle, a recently re-formed James,
Mable John, Melody Gardot, the Gutter Twins, & Operator Please.

On the show tonight & Friday are Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, The Raconteurs, & Sharleen Spiteri of Texas making her solo debut. Also Wisconsin's Bon Iver, the awesomely monicered Scots outfit Glasvegas, and Chatham County Line.
Mary Wilson of The Supremes talks about the Story Of The Supremes exhibition at the V&A.

No, Sharleen BeerTent

She only needed some bad tats and the whole image would be complete.
I did enjoy Nick Cave and The Raconteurs though.

NC was excellent, but when Sharleen came on I turned over.

For me she doesn't do it.

I liked the band with the singer who had lots of Tats on his hand .
I did not get there name though.
The bloke with the tatts is Mark Lanegan. Ex of the Screaming Trees and collaborator with Isobel Campbell (ex Belle & Sebastian).
The album Saturnalia is more of the same, very good it is too.
I saw them live a few years back at a local Holiday camp and i only have the one cd.
The new Lanegan / Campbell release "Sunday at Devil Dirt" is definitely worth a listen too.

Indeed she can, but this week's song was MOR dross to me. Hilary was very concerned with the dodgy dress.
The Bad Seeds were great though, and Warren Ellis's beard was something to behold!

Fair challenge el muncho!
I've heard enough to know it's not for me so in a to your q no.
Sure she can sing but for my ears Texas & Sharleen solo is a bit formulated.

I think having her lips inflated to 55psi doesn't help much either

Re: The Friday show.
Never thought I would enjoy anything by Mick Hucknall, but hearing him with such a simple arrangement, piano, double bass, and drums was a very pleasant surprise.
Nick Cave and his band had class and coolness in abundance.
The Chatham Line played some nice, but not amazing blue grass.
Must agree on the negtive comments about Sharleen Spiteri (I have never forgiven her for a truly dreadful performance at the Phoenix Festival with Texas) although the drummer looked really funny, imagine if Father Ted had a band, he would be in it.
The rest left me pretty cold, although the Raconteurs do have a good drummer.

That sums it up nicely for me. Plus I have never before seen such disengagement between band and singer - I felt embarrassed for them!
The Glaswegian band - oh dear - more embarrassment!
Jack White - stood like a giant amongst the Raconteurs - I could have watched more of that combo - interesting chemistry with them.

On the final espisode of the series are Paul Weller performing tracks from his new album, plus Jimmy Cliff, Martha Wainwright, Tricky, White Lies, & Yoav.

Missed it last night, any good? Was Martha still minus strides? Did the Mod father do good? Should I record Friday's show?

I remembered to set the recorder on Friday!
I thought Jimmy Cliff, Martha Wainwright & Tricky were excellent.
Couldn't get into P.W. due to his silly haircut.

I have lots of Jam & P.W. solo records,
so I know what you mean Biggy,
but the point of tele' is to look & listen!

I spun through last weeks shows yesterday evening, being the first time I've sat in front of the moron box this week, and only paused a while at Martha Wainwright. Then I played her again, and watched her on the Friday version too. Paul Weller was very forgettable to me, which is a shame, and nothing else seemed worthwhile.
I now have to go get that Martha Wainwright album. Great songs, blissful understated guitar playing from that old fruit with the wig, beautifully performed. I'm pleased that was at the end of the series because it has saved the series from being totally useless.
By the way, White Lies; what was that all about? Don't they know we've moved on since 1982?
