Good for the horse. It's a shame he left the man with his head still attached though.

I grew up round sheep, cattle [cows and bulls - cows are much more dangerous with calves at foot, though a penned bull is lethal as well], dogs and horses.

It takes some doing to get a horse to lash out like that, and one must take it that this very cruel looking fellow had not much brain before the impact to stand where he did while he delivered his cruel strokes.

You simply do not stand behind a angry horse if you want to avoid the risk of sudden early death.

Animals are generally entirely predictable and usually more rational in their behaviour than humans. It is quite easy to live a lifetime round animals with no serious injuries to show for it.

It requires patience sometimes, and and absense of a cruel streak always.

I would not have much sympathy for the man with the stick. He got what he diserved, though I would not want to be the horse next time they met.
