U23D

Last night I went with my good friend MilesSmiles to see the new film U23D. We went to the Sydney Imax and it was an outstanding cinematic experience.

Having been twice to the recent U2 tour I had high expectations of the film as the shows I saw in Sydney were awesome.

Would they be able to capture the true live experience in a cinema or would it be a bit of a letdown.

Well I have to say for 85 minutes I was completely hooked. The 3D shooting was outstanding - Bono and the Edge were right there in front of me - I could touch them. The detail you could see was amazing and the atmosphere and sound were first rate - 15,000 watts of digital surround sound. I have to say they must have had a few NAP500's in the cinema to get a sound like it.

As for the audience, well the Latin American crowds in the film created one hell of an atmosphere (almost as good as the Sydney crowds at Telstra Stadium!!).

So very good indeed - I will take the kids this weekend as I think they will enjoy the experience. Recommended if you can get to see it and if you enjoyed the real experience you should really enjoy this.

This 3D concert film takes concert films to a new level.

I thought it was another submarine film. Red Face
Not sure I'd want Bono coming at me so to speak.

Sounds interesting...

Because I had cateracts needled when very young, I can't focus my eyes (and they're different strengths) so I only tend to use one at a time.

However, when I saw "Ghosts of the abyss" in Waterloo's IMAX, it's the first time a 3D movie actually worked for me. If this U2 film's like that, I'd defo have to check it out Smile

... was the first time in many years I watched a 3D movie and its just amazing how the 3D technology has evolved. These are not just individual 3D effects but the whole movie in 3D.
The U2 show so is worth watching in its own right.
... will have to go back and see it one more time. Cool
