ICC Champions Throphy (Cricket)

I can't believe that there is not a thread for this, especially as England are playing well (so far) in this tournament.

Sorry but I am channel flicking between this and the NFL Sunday games.

I wonder if there are any other fans of both cricket and American Football here. I wuld argue the two most tactical, and also intelligent, sports there are.

What a win! England put out the hosts with some fantastic batting, and some very consistent bowling, especially from Anderson.

Great innings from Collingwood and Shah, Eoin Morgan doing a great stand in as wicket keeper, and possibly the innings that won it.

I felt very sorry for Graeme Smith, his best ODI innings in a match where his side were (probably) eliminated from a home tournament.

I didn't - sorry.

That's three in a throw - we're on a roll as the girl from the great society once said .... please click here - there's a song for everything.

With the tournament not covered on either TV or (more importantly) radio it is hard for me to get too interested.

Pleased we are doing OK, perhaps the team has decided that out of the spotlight they can just relax and have a lash!

Some controversy about Graeme Smith being refused a runner? What was that about?

Hmmm

Not sure what to make of that. I'd always thought that injuries sustained during an innings allowed a runner, whereas anyone who starts a game with a pre-existing problem does not have that possibility. Is cramp an injury or just fatigue?

I'm not even sure about the rules re requesting a runner. Does the umpire have to agree to the request or is it purely between the captains?

I never bat long enough to get cramp. I'm usually just getting loose when it is all over!

The umpires weren't convinced he needed a runner, which may have influenced Andy's decision however, he'd been batting for a few hours, cramp goes with the territory and while it is cricket, England have got to play to win.

Blimey, we made hard work of grabbing the runs!

Wish the best captain was well enough to play, this looks like being a slaughter.

Must grudgingly admit that Ricky Ponting is also a fantastic captain.
