leads n' plugs

i'm eagerly awaiting delivery of some kit, direct from a fine home in Germany. Given the joys of eletrical standardisation, the plugs naturally aren't compatible. Now, going out and buying a bunch of leads isn't too much of a conceptual problem, but i'm left wondering if chopping the end off the NAPSC cable, screwing a new plug into place and calling it a day wouldn't be going against the rules... my (local) dealer says it's fine, but i've got this nagging doubt over wether he should be trusted, and wether the same would apply to the leads that are going to go into the rest of the apparatus...
the other, possibly more elegant, option would be to build a hydra, since getting a dedicated plug isn't possible... is the tutorial on TNT worthwhile, or are other step-by-step instructions for people with two left hands available ?
