Any fans of The Proclaimers...?

I'm not a fan as such but Radio1's Blue Room played an acoustic session as part of a chilled mix on saturdays (12/08/06) show which I thought was excellent and very un-proclaimers like.

here

I'm afraid I missed the time of the tracks so you may have to listen to a chunk of the show (not a bad thing imho)

I was hooked when first hearing "Letter from America". I initially thought they were extracting the Michael, but the song grew on me, as did their unique sound. They have produced a number of super albums over the years and their songs contain some fantastic lyrics.

Brad

Would you kindly recommend some of their best albums.

I picked up a s/h copy of Sunshine on Lieth on vinyl a year or two back and it's a cracking album

Their first album - This is the Story - is excellent. Hit the Highway is very good too.

Hi Gary,

Nigel beat me to it, and I would agree with the albums he has mentioned. Their recent album isn't half bad as well "Restless Soul"

Cheers

'This is the Story' went when I sold my vinyl, and this thread prompted be to get it on CD. It arrived today - brand new for £2.76!! - and it is as wonderful as I remember it. The only downside is that the children keep singing 'Letter from America'. Still, it could be a lot worse.

Sunshine on Leith is an absolutely brillant album.

This is the Story and Hit the Highway would be my other favourites to start you off.

Fantastic live (still!!) too

Another fan here. "Throw the 'R' Away" on This is the Story is a particular favourite of mine ... and Restless Soul grows on me more and more with each listen.
