Well, the 8.2 has been announced.
Expect around 20k sterling for the S body

A shame they have decided to increase the price of the M8(.2) when the core component - 10mp sensor remains unchanged.
Particularly painful when you consider Canon have announced their new 5D with more than 20mp for around £2k.
I realise these are different market segments but Leica seem to have run aground with the M8.

"Yeah mate, my mota does 0-62 in 3.5 f...ing seconds"
"How does it handle, boy?"
"No idea mate"
"My mota gives me 300 orse power"
"What is the engine's torque figure and over what rev range, boy?"
"No idea mate"
"My speakers punch out 3,500 watts"
"Must be good"

Do you remember many years ago when BMW insisted that they had no need to improve the aerodynamics of their cars when Audi were making such massive leaps and bounds ahead with the 100 model? No need until they managed to play catch up with their replacement models...

i have read that there is an adapter to take some R lenses on the S -- hopefully for the glorious 180 f2 which is one of my most favourite lenses
Plus there is an R10 coming.

Funny camera the M8. Lots of quirks and not all of them good, but picture quality is not a problem on mine. Leica have been dropping heavy hints about a replacement full-frame sensor for the M8 for the past year, but I'm sure that will go on hold now until the SLR has been thoroughly marketed.

Northpile, I've just received the post and was really pleased to find my Tracy Chapman row B stall seat tickets are in the middle of the block! Roll on December.

I've been imagining an M8 in my camera bag for close to two years now. Now an M8.2 is taking precedence in my mind. The problem is that I still have a freezer full of film so my M6TTL and M7 will have to suffice for the time being. Maybe a full frame M9 with all the bugs worked out is due in 2 years and that will be just about right for me. Along with an R10 and S system : ) Wow!

I heard there was an R10, but I'll believe it when I see it -- and believe it more when my local Leica dealer actually has one in stock.
The 180 f2 is a great lens. Very heavy though. I like to use the 70-180 (also no lightweight).
