Don't be so suspicious Deane, maybe she's a botanist and these are very rare breeds...

Stealing her Cannabis plants is cruel.
No wonder she is having withdrawal symptoms at their loss.
It must be mind blowing for her to think somebody would even want to steal them.

A few years a go I heard a story from a friend in NZ. It goes, the NZ police discovered a large-ish plantation of cannabis out in the country, they cut down the plants but then had a problem hauling them out to a safe place where they could be destroyed. They decided to collect the plants in a huge net and lift them out by helicopter.
Unfortunately this left a trail of seeds and plant particles across the countryside which grew into a swathe of cannabis plants across the countryside.

Were they going to burn them?

I think that they had to burn them in an incinerator rather than having the population down wind from a bonfire in the countryside in a wonderous state.

Yes, that is a bit of a legend here in NZ. Here are my thoughts:
1) Pretty damn poor job of cultivating cannabis if it's all seeded.
2) The airborne cannabis operations were almost without exception carried out months before plant maturity - no seeds, in other words, and no mature male plants to fertilise the females.
3) Even if they did drop seeds all over the countryside, wild plants, being uncultivated, will become fertilised and seeded - very poor quality, in other words.
The police stopped their airborne spotting operations years ago after a couple of cops were killed dropping off aircraft at bad moments.
