Japanese EMI Toshiba?

Dear Friends,

Does anyone know where Japanese EMI Toshiba CDs may be bought in UK? On-line, anywhere in the world, will do now that I finally have a debit card.

I want old Helmut Walcha's EMI integral [13 CDs] of the Bach Harpsichord music, which is only issued in Japan, except for five discs from Pathe Marconi [EMI France] containing the Well temperered Clvier and Goldbergs. The trouble is that the French discs are cheap and the Japanese ones are issued at premium price in one big album! Not much planning there... I do have access to these, so there is no rush, but I would like to look into it at least.

This is a difficult one in UK, but perhaps some members living in the US may have an answer? Please.

Kindest regards fom Fredrik

Dear Fredrik

HMV japan lists a few of the individual CDs as available but not the box, Amazon FR lists all the individual CDs but as currently unavailable. I think most of them are OOP at present. Where did yor read about the box?

Dear Gianluigi, and Poul,

Those sites are well and truly beyond me to navigate! As for where I got the information I found it here:

Walcha discography.

But I guess this is out of date.

My feeling is that I so enjoy these readings that I would like to pay my dues as it were. I am quite sure you understand that!

Never mind. One day EMI will wake up, or perhaps some estimable company like Testament will re-issue them!

Thanks from Fredrik

Frederik,

I tried all the obvious sources plus various internet searches but with no success. There were some 'hits' on the japanese yahoo site (and also in Korea) but I have little clue what they were about...

It would probably be easier to find the EMI vinyl versions (and these would sound better!) but I gathered from your earlier posts that you are now CD-only?

Good luck!

Hi Fred!
From my sofa in the cold far sky i got these further details.
Winker
http://www.amazon.com/Bach-Goldberg-Variations-Helmut-Walcha/dp/B00004UT8G

http://www.amazon.com/Bach-J-S-Organ-Helmut-Walcha/dp/B.../104-1866283-3298332

Btw it seems that those recordings appear in europe under other labels.
I've found this site of a man that gathered a lot of informations.
I think you could contact him to get news.
