Well here it is then, started...
A place for discussion of all things Rugby, whether club, national or international...
The next joy we have to look forward to is the Rugby World Cup. (I imagine it is at this point some of the NZ forum members will join in...)
Any comments, chaps? Or still a bit too early?

You win some and you lose some that's the rub of the green, you can moan all you like but the result is the result.
For someone with a "you win some and you lose some that's the rub of the green" attitude/mentality that's an awfully good memory!

Mark the times Wales have outplayed New Zealand are few and far between and that result would stick in my 15 year old memory forever.Besides in this rugby mad part of the world these classic old games are shown time and time again as there's not been much to get revved up about in recent times.quote:Originally posted by markah:quote:Originally posted by fentontfox:

Joe90 i can remember when i was about 5 playing outside my grandparents house when some older lad kicked a football toward me and i just bent down picked it up and passed it back to him rugby style but at the time my dads cousin was playing for Wales so it was all about rugby for me back then and i bet a few of the older rugby fans on here will remember his debut against England in 1967 scored 19 points not bad for an eighteen year old.
Also the local rugby club Newport have at one time or another beaten every one of the big 3 southern hemisphere international sides but that was back in the times when the likes of Wasps ,Quins ,Saracens were watched by about 50 old etonians and a few fox terriers and the average Englishman knew even less about the game than they do know

I hope some of you saw the "Exclusive" report in the Daily Telegraph about England team discussions after the pool games. Fascinating reading!

I heard that about 650 people were asleep in the stand after 60 minutes playquote:Originally posted by Chillkram:

Awesome defensive display by Leinster. Leicester didn't look like coming close. 22-9 at the finish and Tigers were well beaten. Let's hope Wasps do better against Munster tonight.

What a game, Wasps v Munster. Two of the greats of the European game and a feast of high quality rugby. The return is going to be something else, but Wasps finally look like a team that can play the game with some fantastic youngsters coming through. It was tight though, 24-23, phew!

Just wait till Tigers' new coach settles in, Mark! And by the sound of things yours might be going to join Gatland in Welsh Wales. Perhaps Lawrence could take over???

I think the Tigers v Wasps game at Welford Rd will be a corker. Wasps are definitely on the up and despite today's performance, Tigers look very good when I watched them earlier this season. Some fireworks to come later in the season methinks.

More fantastic rugby this afternoon in the Heineken Cup. The game between Clermont Auvergne and Llanelli Scarlets was a corker. More open than yesterday's game between Wasps and Munster with 10 tries scored between them and a final score of 48-21. Unbelievably Llanelli were going for a bonus point for scoring a fourth try! They didn't quite manage it though. This group is going to be a titanic struggle and not for nothing is it the 'group of death'.
What a magnificent competition the Heineken Cup is, though, and surely must be hugely responsible for the improvement in northern hemeisphere rugby over the last few years.
Can't wait for the next round.

More fantastic European Rugby today. Much better than the Guinness Premiership!
Posted on: 18 November 2007 by Chillkram
What on earh were Clermont Auvergne playing at making 14 changes to the side that beat the Scarlets last week. They virtually gifted Munster the bonus point as well as the points for winning. 36-13. I hope they do the same when they come to Adams Park!

Dear Mark,
Rugby is not my sport I suppose, but I peep in occasionally. I have nothing sensible to say though. But you're not like Fritz, whom I used to like, but he could peeve people chronically, and you don't. Your'e not like Fritz at all!

Bless you George. The rugbyites seem to have deserted this thread of late! How are you?

None too bad. My little set is proving to be a beauty. I am planning a PC to house my CD music, and there is one Forum member who is doing this already, though I will not embarrass him by naming him! I would love to get one of those posh new machines like Naimnet ot the Linn DS Klimax, but they are thousands not hundreds! I am no great lover of the physical medium of CDs!
But I am sure that this will be the way forward. That and high quality broadband downloads.
Job-wise there is a bit of doubt, so I am off to the Agency in the morning to see what might be had when the current contract ends as I can get no commitment from my current temporaray employer to honour their promise that the post would become permanent. The answer to that was that it would entirely dependon trading conditions! So that means I shall be doing a few interviews with luck, which may guarantee an end to it, but better that than waiting for the end of it!

It may well be George, but I doubt they'll ever prise me away from vinyl!
I wish you the best of luck with your job-hunting.
Regards
Mark

Vinyl is not going to disappear, so long as replay carries on. That I am sure of. CDs will go, like 78s, but not vinyl...
Fingers crossed on the job front, for sure!

No... It's just that I've been really busy and you didn't want me to go on about Tigers stuffing Edinburgh.
I think the next potentially exciting thing is what happenes re. the England Coach...

I doubt it George. Not any time soon anyway. Unlike 78s, they are not fragile and more importantly, they a dirt cheap to produce. So long as people buy a few, they will survive.
Music storage is the way forward, but there are issues to consider even with that. Back-ups for a start.
Cheers,
Steve
