Well here it is then, started... Big Grin

A place for discussion of all things Rugby, whether club, national or international...

The next joy we have to look forward to is the Rugby World Cup. (I imagine it is at this point some of the NZ forum members will join in...)

Any comments, chaps? Or still a bit too early?

Big Grin Oh, this could run and run!! Big Grin

I watched it with my girlfriend at Rutin rugby club where the atmosphere was brill. It did put a smile on my face followed by a cracking night around town.

Only problem I'm off to the Millenium with her next week and I'm now rather worried Eek I think I might be in for a rough weekend if Scotland don't get it sorted out. Only saving grace is I still believe we've got the players to get the job done.....but then so do Ireland and look at them (at least they won I suppose)

As there seem to be a number of Forum member 'meets' going on, any mileage on a Forum Rugby Club meet? - At a mutually-agreeable match/venue, presumeably.

The Crumbie Stand, Welford Road, Leicester of course suggests itself Big Grin as being pretty much fairly central, with real ale bars and top class football guaranteed. (And some hifi shop or other if you're bored - not that you will be.)

Rather like the rather impressive French and Irish fans we saw at Heineken Cup Final last year, along for the craich, we could even go for some fabulous co-ordinated outfit - Cotton Traders Naim rugby shirt, perhaps? Black with thin green hoops?! Perhaps even persuade our sponsors to sponsor them...?!

Of course, I'd be up for that, as the previously much discussed meetings for the Forum Rugby Club haven't really materialised yet owing to commitments.

I think it is a joke that he has walked into the International side having played the code for just one season.

Whilst I'm having a rant (shortage of beer, I say) ... isn't modern rugby kit rubbish? This is what it ought to be like - there'd be much more national pride, etc etc, bristle, bluster!

Are you a stander or a sitter Antony? (If that isn't a rude question!!) Personally I'm a stander.

James,

Which ever I can get tickets for - we are standing for the Sale match (13 feb) and Saracens (15 mar) so lets hope the rain is not to much - happy to meet up for a beer or two
Posted on: 05 February 2008 by JWM
According to Tigers website, Sale is 23rd Feb not 13th (which sadly I can't do) and I don't think I can make the Saracens game on 15th March as I'm due to be 'on call' that day (but I'll see if I can swap).

Is it worth booking ahead for Wasps on 29th March, as some of the other chaps (Pests supporters) might be persuaded too...?

Yes sorry small tipo, game is 23rd = pitty you can't make it - hopefully March

Look forward to swating a few of the pesky stingers on 29th - even more so as my ex chairman is very much envoled with Wasps and the PRPA - and is on Josh Lewseys benifit commitee - (well deserved England bloody need him back asap)

Lets hope Sunday England really pull out the stops - otherwide I think it might mean curtains for Ashton -

Who on earth could you be referring to?!! Razz

How on earth did the video ref give Shane Williams' second 'try'. That must be one of the worst video ref decisions ever. When Jonathan Davies was initially claiming a try I thought he was being ridiculous but even he admitted on second viewing it was nowhere near.

Good comeback from Ireland in the other game, but France look scary on the counter.

Not a good idea as the crumbly pastry could get stuck on his jumper.

Flyfisher (late of this Forum) was there I know. Strangely, I haven't heard from him since the end of the game Big Grin

Great result for the Tigers - certainly on our way - One of my friends (still is I think) and I had a little wager on the result - needless to say I won't be buying the next bottle of wine when we meet up! - all we have to do now is worry about the boy's in white Eek

Another masterclass from Brian Ashtons's England WORLD CUP HEROES TO ZEROS

Did wales get to the world cup final then? Must have missed that one.... Roll Eyes

I must admit though, Andy, that fentontfox is right. England were terrible and I actually found myself willing Italy to score that second try at the end. They deserved to win and England were shite.

Agree-dreadful.

A mirror of the first few rounds of the RWC. Ponderous at the breakdown, no urgency at scrum half (why does Gommmersall always escape the critics-lack of an alternative?) and conspicous lack of leadership or even a coherent game plan. I know we have injuries etc but these are longstanding faults over 2 years which suggests the problem runs deep.

Ashton's days are numbered!

Bruce

PS France v Ireland-cracking match.

I suspect conditioning is at the heart of this. I'm pretty sure that at half time against the Leekists and the Italians they sat down do a full roast beef dinner with added pies thrown in. It's the only rational explanation for the stupor that seems to follow in the second half ....

No Wales haven't got to the final 3rd is the best we've managed and contrary to what a lot of English fans think i was only to glad to see them beat Australia in 2003 ,i just can't believe how bad they are playing at the moment they seem to run out of gas after 60 to 65 minutes and consequently are forced into making schoolboy errors the forthcoming calcutta cup game is on my avoid watching list cos the way Scotland are playing at the moment it promises to be dire.
By the way Andy C England may have made it to last years final but nobody cares who the runner up was and for the first time in years i couldn't see one England player i'd like to swap for one of ours and that's saying something, although i would like to say how much Toby Flood has come on this season well in attack at least.

With regards to Jake White after watching the pundits on TV at the England V Wales game of which he was one he seemed to nail his colours to the mast to be Ashton's successor with i thought at times almost blatant toadying for the position damn good coach all the same though.

Thinking ahead to the Calcutta Cup match-has a RU international ever ended 0-0?

Actually since Lewis Moody will be fit again you can guarantee one brainless penalty conceded to Scotland at some point.

I thought Matt Stevens and James Haskell had that role pretty well covered yesterday!
