Well here it is then, started... Big Grin

A place for discussion of all things Rugby, whether club, national or international...

The next joy we have to look forward to is the Rugby World Cup. (I imagine it is at this point some of the NZ forum members will join in...)

Any comments, chaps? Or still a bit too early?

After an off-air discussion with Chillkram, he's definitely up for Tigers vs Wasps at Welford Rd, on Saturday 29th March, ko 15:00hrs.

Anyone else want to join in? I was thinking of getting tickets for the most atmospheric Crumbie Stand (terrace) whilst it is still there... Should be around £20-ish.

I am happy to get tickets (can we say cut-off date of 28th February for people to express an interest)? Otherwise, the beauty of going for the Crumbie Stand terrace, with no fixed seating, is that people can get their own if they wish, from the Tigers' website.

Sounds like a plan!

What a game!

Let's hope Tigers v Wasps in March is the same sort of game. Hopefully with a similar result!

I'm off to watch Tigers get walloped!
Posted on: 17 February 2008 by JWM
An unfortunate and uncharacteristic blip (which Wasps will know about all too well, having experienced it for most of the season...)
Posted on: 17 February 2008 by Chillkram
We're on the way up again. Look out!

If, on the 29th March, Tigers play like they did today and Wasps like they did yesterday, it should be an enjoyable day out for us Londoners!

Count me in, will try and get tickets this weekend when I hope the Tigers I know and love will play unlike those bunch of miss fits on Sunday against London Irish - Woefull -

I hope training is a little harder Tuesday so the guys can focus - The Bath vs Wasps game was pure heaven - pitty one team had to loose

Anthony, it'll be good to meet up - I was out-Wasped 2-to-1 last time...

Tickets for you, or tickets for all of us?! Big Grin

Ding ding, Round 3....

My Six nations predictions. I'm doing rubbish so far.

France 12 England 12

...in which a stubborn and ponderous English pack cause a collective loss of french confidence and squeeze the life out of the game. As a result everyone assumes that everything is actually perfectly rosy and England are really not that dreadful. Worst possible result therefore.

Ireland 32 Scotland 3

Dan Parks scores a drop goal on the only occasion that Scotland actually get in the Irish half. It is accidental, he was going for touch.

Wales 22 Italy 6

Wales made to work by the awkward squad. Several people get thumped. Wales still win.

(Question; Can you think of a sportsman who's voice and demeanour is more suprising then Colin Charvis? As a TV analyst he sounds like the sweetest man alive yet he had the on-field style of an errant yak. IMH0 of course)

(Actually Jamie Carragher is another. Hard-as-nails yet has a voice like a scouse choir boy)

I am not making any predictions for the France game - except I hope England remember to bring their brains with them when they come out for the second half

I will be busy watching Tigers vs Sale (with some of the old England men and Dan Hibciss!! -

I will record the match and put myself through it later Sat Night - with a very large glass of red (may even be French)

Allez les Blancs

I was delighted England won last night - let's hope it's the turn around we have been waiting for lot's of promise with little delivery - still think it is time to review the "OLD GUARD" = not a huge fan of Regan or even Vickery to be honest. Wrigglesworth I thought played pretty well - baptism from hell though

Good play - they need to use more of the NZ man mountain.3/4 play was very creative = Flood played well -

Earlier in the day Tigers had been caught out by Mr Chabal in a brussing encounter at Welford Road - I hate to sound like a bad loser but.............. I could not face another French man kicking us in the Eek

And WASPS won again...just

A great result! Made even more pleasurable because I have to share the viewing sofa with a rabid Scot!

I particularly enjoy Mr Brian Moore's commentary...

ALL

Have discovered a little problem in the proposed get together for the Tigers vs Wasps game (29th March) NO TICKETS!

I have my name down for when those pesky stingers quake in their boots and won't travel to Welford road!

Needless to day plenty of tickets for next Leeds match

Calcutta Cup next, Ryan. Mwah, hah, hah, ha!

...well I think my game predictions were OK this time. England showed the advantage of agressive defence and the crowd gave France the jitters after all of 15 minutes. The sort of game that brings out the better qualities in the England side. Now we just have to show what we can do when we need to dominate a game against poor opposition. Oh look-Scotland next!

Well with a well earned week off and not having to face being beaten by the French twice in one day (Tigers vs Sale)

We can all sit back and look at a good selection of premier fixtures - Harry Ellis is BACK and not before time -

and we have Leeds at home! - like Lambs to the slaughter! but we could do with a good win!!

Come in Leeds the water is warm

Anyone going to England vs Ireland?
We will be in the Cardinal Vaughan Car Park with a picnic and a warm welcome to anyone from the Forum!

Well, Cipriani's out - he needs to understand that if you want to play international sport you just can't go out on a bender shortly before a big game. This isn't soccer.

As Ashton put it, "The key thing with young players is ... if they are mentally ready to play international rugby,"

According to his club he does not drink alcohol and called in the club for 10 minutes only. He does have a bit of a reputation though and I think that the managment have made a point.

Bit of a shame, I was quite looking forward to seeing him play.

I too was looking forward to seeing Cipriani, nice change from Balshaw, who has not acquitted himself well.

I think 'mentally ready to play international rugby' means in part understanding that before a big game you have to be in bed by 10.30.

10 mins or not, he is a professional athlete and has to act like one. Football players do not do it either to be fair and the ones that do tend to find themselves in the same position as Cipriani...aling with a hefty fine by their club.

Can't say I'm unhappy about it though..... Balshaw should at least drop a couple giving us a chance. we need all the help we can get at the mo Big Grin
