Jotul stove (Christmas 2004 - no not sad enough to have a tree up yet). Kicks out 9kw and despite recent price rises is still cheaper than oil.

I had a cabin in the redwoods in N CA for a year, cold winter rainstorms and had a "baby bear" stove, oh my gawd, it put out a lot of heat, you could dial it down to embers but it's very efficient. Nice memories, thanks.

when I lived with friends in Santa Barbara Magee the grey tabby would sit by the stove from Sept on or on our laps every evening at TV. They can sense 2 degrees warmth and adjust themselves. Cats don't love you, just the food and warmth.
