I haven't heard a lot of Scofield and this disc isn't under his name, but his playing is sublime on this all-Miles compositions tribute.

Here are my three faves.
With Joe Lovano, Jack De Johnette and Charlie Haden - great jazz
Acoustic night time music
With Pat Metheny
He has a big catalogue with lots of diff styles. Some albums I do not like like Piety Street.

I can heartily recommend Scofield A Go Go, a collaboration with Medeski, Martin, and Wood. It gets played probably once monthly here.

I heartily agree . . . . really good album.
Also . . .

One of my favorites with either Bill Frisell OR John Scofield!

There are so many worth mentioning but if it's only going to be one, I'm with Gary, Uberjam is a stonking album.

I have a bunch of Scofield, one of my favorite musicians. Hard to narrow it down to one (Marc Johnson's Bass Desires is a classic that everyone should hear, and not just for Sco), but if forced to pick just one it could well be Hand Jive, with the late great Eddie Harris, plus the currently great Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart. This is loose funk at its stinkiest!

Agree with many of the above suggestions, but for something slightly left field, check out "Blood on the Floor" a contemporary classical piece written by Marc Anthony Turnage for John Scofield and on which he plays magnificently. Incredible music - heard Turnage conduct it live with Sco playing a few years ago. There's a new-ish McCoy Tyner album called Guitars that has several Scofield tracks on it, as well as some with other contemporary guitar greats - Bill Frisell and Marc Ribot. Not to mention Ron Carter and Jack de Johnette. Great stuff.

CCR - it would be good if you could report back how you get on. Are you in the UK? Many of these are on spotify so easy to try. Would also be good to hear how you did with Pat Metheny.
