For proggers only

If you are a progger (prog rock lover) like myself, you also tend to be very focused on music choice.
What I would like to know is which albums/songs you enjoy outside the prog rock scene.
Here are some I listen quite a lot:
. T2 - It'll all Work out in Boomland
. The 3rd and the Mortal - Tears Laid in Earth
. Korgis - Everybody's got to learn sometime (just this song)
. Pixies - Doolittle
. Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom
. Wishbone Ash - Argus
. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
What about you?

I'm not sure I count in this because although I like some music that could be described as Prog Rock (Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Soft Machine, Focus, Eloy, Tangerine Dream?, Amon Duul?, The Nice?), I like lots of music that would not be described as such.

Of the records you list, I have vinyl copies of Robert Wyatt's excellent Rock Bottom and Wishbone Ash's Argus, which I haven't played for too long.

Today I listened to 'The Bartered Bride' by Bedrich Smetana and very good it was too, yesterday I was listening to Shirley Collins for a while and the Monochrome Set.

I may be ugly, but I sure ain't weird

ROTF, thanks for your input.
When I want to experiment new music, I use Soulseek (www.slsknet.org). All you have to do is register and then you can share music with the community. IMHO, it is the best for less mainstream music. I will download the albums you mentioned and I will buy the CDs if I like them.
All the best.

TBH I really wouldm't know where to start. Like ROTF, Prog Rock forms a small core of my collection. Soulseek sounds like a very good idea. Be interested in hearing of your discoveries.
