XLD organisation setting

Posted by: garyi on 28 December 2009

Howdy doody.

I am using XLD for mac for ripping now as in essence I have moved away from itunes.

Thing is when ripping a compilation it puts each artist in its own folder.
More over albums which are sort of compilations or have acknowledgments or just arn't named the same artist (for instance you might have 'Plaid' and 'Plaid Feat. etc') you find they are put into seperate folders and not only that tagged appropriatly so in XBMC for instance one album by plaid my cross over three or four artist folders.

In other words a right mess.

I have mine set as follows:

%a/%T/%n %t

Is there a better way to ensure compilations are recognised properly, its about the only thing I miss from itunes.

Hi garyi,

you could try using "A" for Album artist instead of "a" for artist. I am using this:

%A/%T/%A - %T %n %t

Works well for me. Still not everything works ok. Sometimes also change from using FreeDB to Brainz and viceversa which seems to fix things up. If all else fails (only happened once), then I edit the metadata directly.
