Posted by: minime on 07 March 2003

i have been offered this if i trade in cd 3,5/flatcap and £1000 the model is summer 2001 is this a worthwhile upgrade/deal i have never heard a cdx so any opinions please.

That's valuing your CD3.5 and flatcap at around £400 to 500, unless it's a dealer offer machine with suitable cover. That is low.

The CDX is a good machine and certainly is a significant step up from what you have now.

cheers

it's a dealer offer and the cdx is ex dem or i can buy s/h hi cap for £400 matthew what do you think? frank

An ex-dem CDX goes for around 1800-2000 pounds so that is valuing your cd3-5/FC at 800-1000. That sounds OK.

Matthew

You could sell the CD3.5 for £600.00, the flatcap for about £200.00 giving you about £800.00

One year CDX's go for about £1400/1500.

So it down to you.

...from the U.S. will be a 120 volt version so you would have to add the cost of converting to 220.

I want to tell you that selling a CDX these days is very difficult for some reason, even when your price is super low and the unit is in perfect shape. (I speak from experience, as that is exactly what I have been trying to do for like a month!!)

What gives??

The CDX will whip both your CD3.5/FC or CD3.5/HiCap. If you want to make an upgrade, try taking a large step!

I've recently done this.

An ex-dem CDX for £1,500 with warranty set against my 3.5 and Hi-cap for £595 and £450 respectively.

Both were advertised on Loot and the response was considerable.

And then... you could consider adding an external power supply to the CDX by way of a s/h CDPS with modified burndy or an XPS....
remember... source first!

If only I could find an XPS!

Patience is a virtue, I guess.

I have just received a phone call from the guy who purchased my CDPS to add to his CDX/101/250/Allae system.

Quote.. "It has totally transformed my system... I knew the CDX was a good player but I didnt realise how good till I added the power supply."

So go for it CDX owners!!
