4 TET/Rounds

I've noticed this coming very high in various end of year polls. Is it any good?
And while we're on the subject, what's the Rapture album like?
Cheers
Simon

Bought this lunchtime:

Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress (Vinyl)
Goldfrapp - Black Cherry (a very reasonably priced CD)
Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman(double remastered vinyl)
Unkle - Never Never Land (CD to replace my illegally downloaded copy)

Simon -

Where did you get the Underworld vinyl? Has it been re-issued?

Its a "simply vinyl" version - I got it in HMV. Apparently its been mastered at half speed and needless to say its a double. £10.99 bargain!

I've had 'Rounds' for several months and whilst it's quite good it doesn't figure anywhere near my year best selection.

I've had Rapture - Echoes for a week or so and really like it. I feared it might be a bit tunless, but no, good songs well played with just the right amount of attitude (IMO)

The Grauniad gave it five stars. I'd give it three of your Nick Lees' heads. It's one of those records that sounds like it's going to be a grower...but then doesn't.

I think the problem with the 'rounds' album is that it takes too long to get going.
If I have to skip a handful of tracks to get to anything decent, it is never going to be a great favourite of mine.
