Music For The Masses

Just happened to be in my local dealers shop the other day when the boys from the factory were in with the CD5i and Nait5i. I hung around while the boys compared the new vs the old so got to hear what does what.
The upshot of which was quite interesting.
CD5i not as good as CD5 but i model still better when compared to similar priced Arcam for instance.
Nait5i evidently had more energy and 'funk' than Nait5, but not as flexible as has two less inputs, no mute or monitor function.
Both bits of kit together sounded great, coping with the first track on Radioheads Amnesiac album with real PRAT. I was a bit worried that things might get a bit messy as these are cheaper than the earlier versions which are both really good bits of kit but the new units are cracking.
I think this is a really good move by Naim as it allows people who would have otherwise bought Arcam, Rotel or (dear god!) roksan to get into the Naim thing and get the benefits of proper music.
Apparently they should be available at the end of next month.
Top shot!
Hmmm, upgrades.
