Someone called 'Matt Smith' apparently.

Smith appeared in Alan Bennett's play The History Boys at the National Theatre in London, and alongside Christian Slater in Swimming with Sharks in the West End.
Two of the productions in which he featured - That Face and On the Shore of the Wide World - won Laurence Olivier Awards.

The 26-year-old's teenage plans to be a footballer were scuppered by a back injury so he studied drama and creative writing at university.
His TV appearances have included the BBC's versions of The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, both of which featured Billie Piper.

I think Catherine Zeta Jones sounded a much better idea.

I don't know. I might have started watching it if they had got the right one.

Personally, I think he's a good choice. He was excellent in Party Animals and you can see Dr Who in him in 'The Ruby...'. I'm glad they didn't choose someone deliberately 'wacky'.

I'll watch Matt, but I'll be thinking of Billie ...

Loved the quote on Pink fish " They are not just Cybermen they are M&S Cybermen"

Doctor who? Looks like they picked a nobody with spots. I watched Ruby in the Smoke and Party Animals and I don't remember him at all.

I think Alexander Armstrong would have been much better as a Dr Who or Adrian Lester out of Hustle.

Disappointed. Was really hoping it'd be Phil Glenister, but now he's doing that Demons thing (err...hmmm...might be alright sometime) that'll never happen.

I was hoping the new Doctor would be someone a bit older, say in their mid-50s, who liked ELP, HMHB and Shirley Collins and was perhaps a football supporter of a mid-table Championship side

Read somewhere today that it was a nice change that the new doctor actually looked like an alien...
