Massa gives a lesson in teamwork. Suppose Alonso would have done the same. Big Grin

Well done to Kimi, a great driver. Lewis will be world champ I'm sure.

I wonder if Ron Dennis will pay Alonso next year - but not let him race? That might give Hamilton more space to take the championship. It looks like he is a born champion and it's just a matter of time - but he could have done without Alonso's childishness along with all of the other pressures.

All over for him?

I doubt it.

What is it about McLaren and strategy?

For years and years they've made bizarre and ultimately wrong decisions about fuel and tyres for their drivers and they're still doing it!

Poor Lewis but well done Kimi (a victim of poor McLaren strategy in the past and now the benefactor)

Mclaren lost it for him in China.

Bring back Murray Walker: "And you can see it visually!"

Then there was that T-shirt which said on the front, beneath a picture of Murray: "Unless I'm very much mistaken.."

And on the back it said: "I AM very much mistaken!"

I've had a few hours to think about it all now and.....I'm afraid it's still...

but wait.....
Stewards investigating 4th, 5th and 6th for 'fuel irregularities'.
Posted on: 21 October 2007 by Chillkram
Championships should be won on the track. I'm sure Lewis wouldn't want to become world champion like that. It would not be right for the FIA to take it away from Raikkonen now and I don't think they will.

I don't disagree with you, Mark.

I do not presume to make any judgement on this, I have not seen the evidence (through the post-race scrutineers, presumably). But if these cars/teams cheated on fuel, they cheated on fuel, with sanctions ranging from rap over knuckles to (ultimately) disqualification.

I guess we probably wouldn't want athletics drugs cheats to get away with it. Are fuel irregularities not like drugs tests for cars?!

But the F1 circus - which is about business at least as much as it is sport - will go crazy is Raikkonen is deprived.

Not being conversant with F1 rules. BBC radio 2 news had the fuel problem narrowed down to temperature of it in the BMW and Williams cars. What difference does it make?
Posted on: 21 October 2007 by BigH47
Those teams will disappear from the record if so deemed, just like McLaren disappeared from the constructors record. It will move the cars behind up.If this were three races ago say and it gave LH enough points what's the difference?
Any difference to taking a gold medal away from a drug cheat in the Olympics I think not.
Rules are rules and we have had enough sight of how they are used in F1.

It makes the fuel "shrink" so you can actually get more fuel into the same volume. This allows a larger amount of to be filled in a shorter time resulting in a quicker pitstop. It may make the engine work better too.
There are specific temperature ranges that the fuel must be delivered.

BigH47,

I agree with you - rules are rules and there is no room for sentimentality here - if LH gets moved up this is fair - if that then means he wins the world champs - then this is fair too.
Posted on: 22 October 2007 by Bob McC
Rules are rules.
So why wasn't LH punished for breaking the rules and using 2 lots of tyres in practice?

Oh Bollox, roll on 2008.

Said Lewis.

I think Hamilton senior gave a lesson to us all in how to accept defeat in his interview immediately after the race.

This season has been the best for some time on the track and the worst for some time off it. Let's hope next year is a repeat of the former and not the latter.
