Very sad. Freaky guy but a real music genius.

Why is it that rock people always die on the eve of comebacks?

So sad, I am very shocked at this news.

so sad going to mist very much very talented person

Problem is his memory will always be tainted by Paedophilia so I cannot be truly sad I'm afraid.

I feel deeply saddened by this news.

It wouldn't surprise me if bearing in mind what happened to him, he had wanted to go.

It seems to me he has been persistently pecked at by the media.

Regarding claims of Paedophilia, I am inclined to say that you are innocent until proven guilty.

I may put a couple of his albums on when I get home.

Regards,

Schizo.

Very sad news, I'm just watching some of the retrospectives on US channels.

Have you seen the video to Scream made with his sister Janet.

He basically says that he finds all the lies about him disgusting, and then sticks his finger up at the media.
Posted on: 26 June 2009 by Luxen
What you mean by all the lies???

Sad news, only I really do not feel so sad...have I been fed with lies about the so-called pedophile stuff?

Still, tragic event...

His words, not mine.

In his prime, he could entertain like few others before or after - either on albums or video or in concert. Really tragic that we'll not get to see all the hard work he has been putting in in preparation for the O2 concerts.

I'll stick with the above in judging him and I hope history will too.

this man made an immeasurable contribution to popular music as we know it.

my feeling is that he spent a vast proportion of his life a tormented soul, and in a way I am very glad he is now at total peace - so that we can all remember him as that uber-talented little african-american boy with a fog horn of a voice dancing around on stage with his brothers.

poor AEG (the o2 arena owners) must have expended a life time of energy persuading Jacko to make a live comeback in the UK - now they'll loose £300m - and have an empty stage for 9 months.

Simon, if they are smart they should put on a tribute concert & memorial and donate some of the cash to charity win/win all around.

a worthy concept. unlikely such a show could generate the same continued appeal over 50 dates. i'd go tho.

You know what, and I think I'm going to suffer some brickbats for this, I'm not really that bothered. Sure it's terrible when someone goes, before their time, so to speak but somehow I was more affected when Freddie Mercury died. I wasn't that concerend when Kurt went either.

Absolutely talented and left us with some awesome music no doubt but he's not the person he was and, whatever the reasons behind it, someone of a dubious disposition with regards to his relationships with others. Probably.

However, when the story pushes back that of a baby being savagely beaten to death by her 15 yr old babysitter or that of the three 'men' who doused a teenager in petrol and set light to him...Context seems to have left the building. These stories are far more worrying than a 50 year old man with known health problmes dieing of a heart attack.

Was he hooked on the stuff...?

If you liked his music and could overlook the other stuff probably a sad loss; otherwise just another guy who died like many thousands who die each hour...

Any artist who has produced the best selling album of ALL time has to given due respect, Jacko produced some cracking classic pop singles (although I still think "I want you back" remains his/their greatest moment)

But ....as usual the media reaction has been hysterical and OTT ...Jackson undoubtably had a sad childhood and an overbearingly cruel father but that doesn't excuse his wilfully weird/strange/innappropriate behaviour over the past few years.

John Lennon (who also endured a nightmare media period as a Beatle) was brought up by his Aunt - losing his parents at a very young age - and if he was guilty of some eccentric behaviour at times in later life he didn't act or behave in anyway similar to MJ and his horrible death WAS a genuine tragedy.

Likewise Elvis may have ended his life fat and hooked on various prescription meds but again never allowed himself to be as wilfully self destructive to the degree MJ did.

History will show MJ to have been a brilliant dancer and a pop video innovator however his recordings aren't in the same league as The fab four's, early Elvis, and others (insert your own fave here!)

apples and oranges if you ask me - MJ was in a new setting . But what he did to set off his solo chapter set new standards (wrote songs worked with the best arranger performed and marketed himself, knowing exactly what the fans wanted)-well check the sales!

greatly missed - RIP MJ

Didn't care for him personally, but in terms of celebrity status he was huge...one of those people that you couldn't escape noticing no matter hwo hard you would have tried. He owned pop music in the 80's.

I guess Farrah Fawcett picked the wrong day to pass away...

Local news is the coroner said final results will be a few weeks away as there's more to it than just a heart attack. This should be interesting.

First there was Wolfang Mozart, then Heath Ledger [with a few in between], and now Micheal Jackson.

Prescription medicines are just as dangerous as the illegal kind when not understood or used correctly.

Damned shame when it comes to it it.

Of course I do, MJ was an expert on feet.
