vinyl 2 pc

I might just be being a bit thick, but here goes:

I need to get vinyl into 72 pre and then out to PC, where I can record with spin doctor.

How do I do it?

I actually have this set up on my PC except I use Audiograbber and Audio Cleaning Lab software.

As the 72 has two tape sockets I use a 5 pin Din lead to two minijacks connected to tape 2 and then into me PC soundcard. The lead is from Chord, (Cobra 2 I think) and cost about £84 made to a 2m length. The standard 1m is about £45.

I used a cheap lead and connectors for a trial and it worked but the sound was poor. The Chord lead improved things a lot.

Basically once connected you can use your PC as a CD recorder by selecting 'line in' or similar for source on the software. I then use ACL to manipulate the tracks if needed, i.e. hiss, pops and scratches. Mostly I try to leave them alone.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Milan. I'll give it a try. I think I did this already, but the PC wasn't registering any sound in. I'll have a play with the software and see what happens.
