Vertical NAIM ?

Hello everyone,

One of the less desired side-effects of up-grading NAIM systems is the proliferation of “black boxes” mainly power supplies.
The following crazy idea was mentioned to me: If you run out of shelf space, you can place an XPS (and I presume also the SuperCap) in VERTICAL position as a temporary measure, e.g.: until new shelves arrive.
Beside the possible sonic impact, I rather worry of potential electrical / mechanical problems, including insufficient heat dissipation. Apparently, one would have to place the XPS on the small side with the power button low (or was it up ?) do avoid overheating.

Any comments from the technical experts ? Any experience gained already ?

(I have no doubt, that the sonic effect could be bad – but this at least would not destroy my equipment - or maybe, just maybe, this opens up a new way of tweaking??)

I suspect that there is no real reason why you should not have your XPS vertically as long that there is plenty of ventilation. Although this is not the way it was designed to work.

I also suspect that many people will frown on this but I used my Sky box vertically for many years and it did not sufer any ill effects.
