Royd Doublets still alive?

I read fairly recently that Royd Doublets no longer exist, despite Derek at NAF begging Joe to make some more! I guess Royd's focus has to be on the (newer) RR range, rather than churning out mid 90s models.

They were about £450 in their day, so if they're £600 now, someone's creamed a profit IMHO.

!!! There's always money somewhere for the next upgrade... !!!

My brother has some doublets and they are fantastic - fast, punchy, VERY extended bass.

They are though, AFAIK, obsolete so I wouldn't pay loads for them, and don't do parties...

I think the m12 is a fabulously fun speaker. It doesn't have the bass and treble extension of the Doublet, and I haven't heard a Doublet in a few years, but my recollection of it was that it wasn't as much fun. Good, but not as much fun.

Oh - you must buy the EPOS stands with the m12s. They sound like half the speaker without them.

Frank.

Gary,

we first have to ask Nuño what time frame we're looking at, when we're talking speakers. We don't want to rush things. Wink

Nuno, hello again !

I have had Epos12 with Nait2, not so bad, but just that, nothing more. Epos is very hungry speaker, you wouldn't be satisfied cos' you need at least 140 to wake 'em up.
Royd is better opinion, but you said:

In that case nothing less than Intro2 wouldn't satisfied you and your amp. I have Intro2 with Nait2 and I can say that Intro2 is easier to drive than Epos. Not just that, Intro is also sonically much better than Epos.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, Nuno... with Intro you will have synergy, remember that Wink

Good luck,
Ozren Smile

Nuno.

Isn't a flatcap2 what u really need ?

Nuno.
The Royds were produced until about 2 years ago. They are good speakers but you should get them way cheaper than 900 euro. I think that was the original retailprice. They are also a sensible match for the Nait, about 90db/4 ohm. The Epos are also very good speakers, but less sensitive.Epos also give a more laid-back sound.
Intros are also a very good option.
Also consider cap/caps, they are close to magical!

Good luck with your sistem

Nuno,

If you have the money, you have had the chance to hear these speakers on the end of a CD5/Nait and you liked what you heard, then go for it. What could be simpler?

A home dem perhaps???

Steve.
