Tiger Unleashed!?

A sad mac head that i am i ordered my copy of OSX 10.4 from the apple store to arrive on the day of release... But im gobsmacked to learn that so did over 150 others in my Small Town!
How do I know i hear you cry... Well to cut along story short the TNT man arrived today in a hired Van. He told me that TNT had so many to deliver that they had hired extra vans and drivers, He had 150 to deliver in my area alone!

Anyway, hopefully ill get to load my copy this evening and im hoping it will be all its cracked upto be.. if not me and 149 of my neighbours will be disappointed!

Anyone that thinks a computer is "cool" is a geek.

You should meet the younger generation.

I have kids and they tell me the only kids who think computers are cool are geeks.

BTW I've heard that 10.4.1 is being released within the next couple of weeks.

Yup good old apple found a few problems.

Steve I don't need to use a computer to much at work, but I enjoy having a nice machine at home.

Geeks are people like you and I who use our computers to talk or argue with each other on line about computers.

Therefore you are as guilty as the rest of us.

Get over it.

You see now this why I hang back from getting the very latest OS upgrade straight away - I simply wait for the bugs to show up and for Apple to provide a fix, as they invariably do....then I'm right in there!

Clever, aren't I? Big Grin

[Alright don't answer that....no sniggering at the back there!! Big Grin Winker ]

Given I've a degree in computer science and am the IT & development director for a company that develops and implements computer systems it's difficult for me not to be a geek.

I've never been so geeky though that I've ever queued up to be the first to install a new point release of an operating system, or even worse posted on a hi-fi forum about doing it. If fact I've only ever seen Mac geeks (the lowest of the low) do that. Razz

Anyway if all my years working in IT has taught me anything it's never to be the first to implement a new software release...!

Wow! Talk about service, TNT have just phoned up and said the delivery driver who lives in Andover is happy to come round now with my toy.

Pretty impressive for a Friday night!

Thats a result!

Ive just fired up the dashboard and is really cool, no setting up, all the widgets are ready to rock and roll straight out of the tin!

Unlike my TNT experience.

I get a call from them Thursday. They want to deliver Friday. Can they give us a time? No. Someone stays in. No delivery. I call TNT. 'Oh, it's due to the demand. We'll deliver Saturday before midday.'

Saturday, they try to deliver at 2pm when I'm out. I call. 'Can you pick it up from us?' No - it's a 90 minute drive. OK, I say, how about tuesday? 'No it'llhave to be wednesday'. But someone will have to stay in all day. Again.

After 3 trys it goes back to Apple.

Bah!

Confused

I take great exception to that. It's a motorhome I have thank you very much... Eek

Caravan FFS. Still it's difficult to argue with some level of geekyness considering all the mail for me at the office today turned out to be either offers from PC manufacturers (none from Apple though, funnily enough) or brochures from component suppliers!

But at least there are no computers in my motorhome. If you discount my laptop that is. And SWMBO's laptop (a G4 iBook running OSX) of course.
