Rickie Lee Jones and me have had a relationship since the release of her self titled masterpiece (IMO). I think that i have taken more out of the relationship than Rickie buying all of her music (pretty well) and seeing her a few times. I would offer to share some of my singing escapades with her but it would be a shame for the woman to die at such an relatively young age. Anyway less of me blabbing on........
Nice funky, honky anti Bush tune on free download from
Have you had enough? Maybe if i learn to play guitar and reign in the caterwailing i could........................... Nurse the straight jacket please

If you like RLJ this freebie should appeal
Enjoy

Thanks for the info.
Like you I have always been a fan of hers since the first Album. I often play it and Flying Cowboys, I must admit I struggle with some of the later releases such as Pop Pop.
I'll have to remember to download the mp3 when I get home.
Will.

Willie
Have you got Pirates, in my opinion her finest album.

Hi Diccus,
I must admit I haven't listened to Pirates for quite a few years. I've always intended to listen to all them in sequence.
Her singing isn't to everyones taste, often mumbling one minute and wailing the next, but I've found that a Naim System can really bring out the emotion from both her voice and the music, although when I last put on Naked Songs I kept turning down the volume and eventually stopped the CD and put on something else.

I played The Magazine the other day for the first time in years and was surprisingly disappointed. I used to play her constantly, still love a few of the classics and the live stuff from Girl At Her Volcano, but generally can't listen to her anymore.
I will give the mp3 a shot in a mo.

Diccus, thanks for the heads up ... I dug the song, Have You Had Enough?. And, yes, I've had enough [of BushCo], too ... way, way, too fucking much, in fact.
I've always dug RLJ, but her 2003 album The Evening of My Best Day is her masterpiece. I just can't get enough of this perfect album, which, by the way, also contains a healthy dose of anti-BushCo sentiment. Right on.

RLJ is one of my all time favourite artists. I've grown up with her and happily my musical tastes have evolved in sync with hers.
There's no poor albums, mostly great, but one odd-ball one which is just absolutely fantastic. "Ghostyhead" is right out of left field, but is one of the most innovative and different albums I know, which rewards constant re-visits with new thrills and insights.
An overlooked masterpiece IMHO

Fred,
She is certainly not a Bush lover, certainly in the Neil Young camp on your 'interesting' Prez.
Ugly Man he's an ugly man
he always was an ugly man
he grew up to be like his father
an ugly man
and he'll tell you lies
he'll look at you and tell you lies
he grew up to be like his father
ugly inside
hey - ugly man
what's the plan?
if people knew
what would they do
to the ugly man?
Having fun?
but will we be here
when you're done
with me....?
revolution
now it's finally going to come
everywhere that you're not looking
Revolution
and we'll take it back
now we take the country back
everywhere that you're not looking
ugly man
ugly man
ugly man
Take care
Diccus

Wow thats an interesting view. I loved the Trip Hop scene that came out of Bristol, Portishead particularly and Ghosty Head is the only RLJ album i havent got into. I heard it once didn't like it and put it to one side, i guess i thought it was Rickie trying to be too clever and bandwagon jumping which she isn't known for. With the Trip Hop revolution well and truly over i'll have to revaluate this hidden work.
Appreciate your inciteful post.
