Ah puppies, what's not to love!

What I want to know is what the heck could Adam have edited out of this post? Smile

Oh well, I even get to see my mutt tomorrow when I get back home after another 4 weeks away.

he weighs 3kg at the moment and is only 8 weeks old. the average height of a fully grown male miniature schnauzer is around 15-20" to the shoulders. oh shit ive become a dog geek already ! Eek

I cant believe how intelligent this little guy is....after just 2 days he is going out in the garden to do his business and retreiving a ball on command. BRILLIANT. Big Grin

Twix with my daughter Mel + Mum/Dad

Mel teaching Twix the sit command in the garden.

I SAID THE SIT COMMAND ! Winker

I see the little fella's already mastered the untying shoelaces trick Dave!

He's very cute & I'm sure he'll bring you and your family many years of pleasure.
Posted on: 23 December 2008 by scottyhammer
Tony, more like Mels NOT mastered the art of tying shoe laces yet! Winker
have a good one, Dave

Congrats mate.
Not tried an 'ammers shirt on him yet?
I reckon if we'd have had a sweepstakes here on his name, most of us would have put money on him being called Brooking,Moorey, Ittok, Linnie or something similar! Big Grin
Happy Xmas
Matt.

Hi Matt, my choice of name was Adolf seeing as he is a german breed - Paulo was a close second but Mel had the final say as he is really her dog so Twix it is. Winker
he will have to grow a tad to fit into any hammers shirt that i have.
regards, Dave

DON'T mention Adolf & Paolo in the same sentance! He's got into enough trouble over those comparisons as it is Eek
Cheers

Hello Dave,

congrats for the cute puppy.

In our neighbourhood lives a Japanese married couple. They had a Mini Schnauzer names "Plato" which reached an age of 17 years!

So expect to have a dog with a long life expectancy. Maybe the healthful Japanese food ( Sushi? ) was resposible for that Big Grin .

Best wishes

Manfred

When I saw the thread title all in capitals I thought something important had arrived - like a turntable.

What can be more important than a cute little dog?

Great choice!
We had a salt and pepper mini until she died earlier this summer.[10yrs old: a bit young by the breed's standards].She was a great pet, but not graced with much intelligence[we think we had the runt of the litter].We still have a black giant, and the similarities in their characters are uncanny. They are super dogs and very loyal.

A friend has small dogs and says they tend to get older than large ones because the heart is more in proportion to size. Also the rounder heads allow for more frontal brain activity. Dogs that are slender headed like greyhounds.... not so sharp. I'm sure I'll get flamed by someone with a saluki.

On Thanksgiving day the National Dog show is a standard entertainment. I think the dog class that has the cutest all around are the Terriers. Tho John has had 2 and he says he had to have long serious talks with them about what is not allowed. They often didn't agree.

Went to the vets yesterday for Twix's 2nd innoculation jab and she said that we should think seriously about getting him "snipped" BUT we are not too keen as he will not be showed or bred or left with other dogs unattended so what do you guys think ?? should we or shouldnt we.
Posted on: 01 January 2009 by scottyhammer
Point taken Stu but the vet was also saying that having the snip can lessen the chances of serious illnesses in dogs. im a bit dubious and am inclined to think that like most vets they are only interested in lining their own pockets.
have you seen the price of vets bills and canine medicine ? jeeeeze. Frown

I'd advise to go ahead with the snip:we've done so with our dogs[spayed in their case].Apparently it does reduce the risk of developing certain cancers and can also help with behaviour [esp.if their are bitches in the area on heat]: notwithstanding points noted about vets and lining pockets.[I have every sympathy!]
