Received my unit "repaired" today after more than 4 months away. Turned it on : "pshhhhhhhhh" and distortion on the front speakers Red Face ... (at least it doesn't mix the front channels anymore).

Back to my dealer tomorrow.

Come on Naim people. I know you can fix it ...

Karyboue,

1) what is the RMA number on the paperwork?
2) What was done to the unit?
3) did you send back details of your setup/settings (as suggested in the link thread)?

If you can give me this info, I will look in to this on Monday when Naim officially is open for business

Is there anything else in the system that could be affecting this?

Every analog or digital input, even if there is nothing connected on them, ouput a very loud "pshhhhhhhhhhh" that increases/decreases when turning the volume button up/down.

I use an old Marantz SR5300 as a preamp connected to my NAPs to replace the AV2 in my system and everything is ok with it.
The default really comes from the AV2.

About earthing, the house has earth on the sockets but I know no more.

I have no idea about the RMA or what had been done as my dealer took care of everything.
The only references I have on the box are Audist 22964 and the unit sn is 204899.

Hi Manu (Bonne Année Winker ),

I don't know, I haven't check.
I brought back my unit to my dealer who will test it on tuesday.

We discussed about it and it looks like the "Test Tone" is always on or something like that.

Bonne année à toi aussi et par la même occasion à tous les Frenchies.

Test tone always on is not an issue, as soon as you leave the speaker setup mode, it stops.

I feel, the DSP board (GEN6 board) may have moved during shiping. It may not be perfectly connected, hence the white noise you are hearing.
Ask you dealer to check that before sending it back to the hospital over ''la Manche''

Thanks Manu,

Thinking of the "Test Tone" always on, in fact it is probbaly not that because the "pshhhhhh" can be heard on both front speakers (don't know if it was on the other speakers)

Hi Karyboue,

I have checked our records. If I read this correctly, the last time that was at Naim seems to be 13/10/2006.

Can you please contact your dealer.

Thanks.

In 2006 it was sent for a firmware update impossible to be done.
Since the unit came back with the new firmware I had a lot of various bugs - I never had one before with the previous firmware software -, the last one being the mix of the front channels that made the unit useless.

I'll have a serious talk with my dealer on tuesday to know what happened to the unit in the last 4 months 1/2 ...

Hi,

I brought back the unit to my dealer yesterday and he left me a message this morning :

1- It seems that there is a ground problem as he hears cracks in the speakers when he touchs the unit ???

2- He called l'Audiodistribution (french distributor). I don't know what they talked about but my dealer would like to be directly in touch with you to send the unit directly to Naim if it is ok.
Here's his website where you can find his datas : http://www.auditorium37.fr/component/option,com_contact/Itemid,51/

Thanks.

I have seen my dealer an hour ago.

The web page I gave on my previous post doesn't work. You can contact him at this mail : alain.carrire23@gmail.com

He gave me some more informations about the probleme : when the AV2 is "off" but connected to a NAP "on", the speakers "pshhhhhhhhh" ...

Hi,

I was gone for a week.
I saw my dealer yesterday who told me that you took care of the problems directly with him.
The "pshhhhhhhhh" is gone but distortion is still present.

Thanks
