Scotty. Confused

Sorry.

Well, all in all I don't think it's really as good as it's made out. It's a brilliant time waster sure, but I wonder whether the history of the series has compromised reviewer objectivity. I never played the previous versions.

The game engine is as used in Oblivion so it's all very familiar.

Just my humble opinion.

I've enjoyed the following games on PS3:

Wipeout: HD
GT5 Prologue
Burnout: Paradise

I've enjoyed these games on other platforms, but I think they are available for PS3:

Prince of Persia
Fallout 3
Oblivion
Tomb Raider: Legend & Anniversary

As a game machine, I must say I have been disappointed with the PS3. I primarily use it for Blu-Ray while I wait for GT5.

wipeout hd - great game. good online mode with only slight lag. great graphics and sound. and is cheap and you can dowload it.

gtprologue. ok but not brilliant. really is just a taster for the full coming game. but you can get it cheap enough to make it worthwhile now.

assassins creed. this is a must play. awesome graphics and a groundbreaking game. you will spend hours just wandering around in the game to look at the fgraphics. climbing up buildings and running and jumping like a circus performer is done brilliantly too.

gta - great game and again well worth getting. like the previous ones but so much better.

soul caliber - wouldnt bother. ok but nothing to write home about, only get if you really like the previous ones.

genji - dont bother. just got this for £8 and i am going to try and take it back and swap it. camera angles are shocking.

heavenly sword - well worth getting and cheap now. great graphics and a lot of fun to play.

that is all i can think of right now.

played far cry 2 over the w-end and overall thought it was good EXCEPT one major flaw which is really annoying and that is the fact that the baddies seem immune from your bullets.
It takes several well aimed shots before they go down which rather spoils an otherwise good game.
assassins creed is a lovelly game but for some reason i found it quite boring.

F1 is amazing. Use the controller as the steering wheel..... Great. Just dont try to take on my brother at Silverstone.....

Well fallout 3 was pretty empty i think, after playing the first few levels it was nowhere near as good as i excpected, but by enlarge its a good game, COD5 is still not as good as COD4 which i would recommend getting if you liked world at war, there are some good moments, but the fact that cod4 is set in modern times gives the game a better feel overall.

If you like shoot em ups, then i just pre-ordered killzone 2 which is looking to be the best game currently on the ps3, and pretty much better than anything else youre going to come across, i massively suggest dowloading the demo from the playstation 3 online store for free. Takes a few hours but its massively worth it. Plus the full games out in just over a couple of weeks and the online mode holds up to 32 players per match!

Gran turismo 5 is the must get game for the driving games genre, loads of cars, loads of tracks and it looks fantastic in HD. Some complain about the lack of realism in the form of no damage, but after 139 laps from a 140 lap endurance race thats taken you 3 hours, crashing on the last corner and losing the race. will result in nothing more than a foot shaped hole through your television screen, trust me on that.

Metal gear solid 4 is a great game, but might require some getting used to, if you like the stealth genre then its fantastic, the demo is also available for free in the playstation store and ive been playing it almost non-stop all day.

So yeah, the best genre is definitely shoot em up games. hope this helped.

Well I finished Fallout 3 this evening. Overall I wouldn't bother. Plenty of other good games around.

I need to finish off The Orange Box and Metal Gear 4 now Smile

I'm currently playing Fallout 3 and loving every minute of it. But if you are looking for a first person shooter then mabe look elsewhere as Fallout 3 is more of a mixture of RPG (role playing game) and FPS (first person shooter).
If you enjoy COD5 then definitely check out COD4. It is short, but well worth it.

If you use VATS Fallout can be an almost pure RPG. Big Grin

While not a game for FPS fans, the role-players out there will enjoy it. I'm up to level 8 and having loads of fun. and that's from me, who always preferred D&D to S.P.E.C.I.A.L. I mean, I've ever DM'ed a few D&D games, pen&paper style.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/V.A.T.S.

Simply put, you hit R2 on your gamepad, and get a "menu", where you can decide which enemy to attack, and which part of his body will you target, while the game remains paused until you make a selection.

A GREAT solution for playing music and videos from your PC on a Playstation:

http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/

Works on Windows, Mac and Linux. Transcodes everything so that the PS can play it. Give it a go, it's a great peace of software.

I picked up Bioshock this week for £17 off Amazon (never buy new releases!) and finally got to start it this evening.

Very very impressive at 1080p. I think it's using the Ureal engine - there must be some life in them bones!

Jay

ps...finally finished off HL2 - The Orange Box too.
