Demonstration of ignorance

Newby questions, I'm afraid.

1/ What's the difference between Sony Wega and Sony Bravia? I have a Sony Wega (KDL-32MRX1) with which I'm v happy, but I only seem to read about Bravias these days. Are the Wegas discontinued? I ask because my in-laws are looking to buy a new telly, prob around 32inch. If both still exist, which is better?

2/ My Sony has a separate receiver box and screen; might it be possible to change the receiver box in future so as to allow for new connections etc, while keeping the screen which is just the right size for where it sits?

Hope these aren't daft questions; the world of television seems a lot more complicated than it used to.

Thanks.

In the beginning - well not quite - Sony used a image processing "engine" called WEGA, this was used on the wide screen CRT TVs - it was also used on some of the early flat screen TVs.

They then developed a new "Engine" and gave it the very marketing compatible name of

"Best Resolution Audio Video Integrated Architecture"

or Bravia

I am sure that the Sony website will also have some technical details as well
