I have recently acquired a Betty Carter LP, and I really think it's rather good. It's entitled 'Betty Carter meets Ray Bryant' - I think - does anybody else out there think she 'rocks'? and if so any recommendations for other releases?

Betty Carter was probably my favourite singer of all time. Her records never capture the electricity of her live performance but "The Audience and Betty Carter" double album is fabulous. The last time I saw her live it was with the stellar lineup of Geri Allen, Dave Holland and Jack De Johnette.

I agree - "The Audience & Betty Carter" is a required listen for any jazz fan.
I saw her many years ago on someone's recommendation and she blew me away!
