Hubert Harry

Has anyone else heard of this guy? Radio 3 played a track or two from one of his albums a couple of Sundays ago - a Scarlatti sonata. The website gives playlists of course, so off I went to track down Hubert Harry on Royss Music. No luck at Amazon and the usual suspects - it turns out that you buy the CDs direct from Royss Music in Switzerland, where Hubert and Heidi Harry live.

Hubert Harry concentrates on teaching piano, only giving the occasional concert, but there are seven CDs of concerts from the 70s and 80s.

The CD I bought - volume 4 - is absolutely excellent, as well as the five Scarlatti Sonatas it has five Debussy Preludes and nine Rachmaninov Preludes - all beautifully played and well recorded live.

As well as Discovering Hubert Harry I don't recall listening to Debussy before, and was surprised to hear how modern the music is (no surprise to others I'm sure).

This thread may reveal me to be a bit of a pleb, but never mind, discoveries, however late, need to be shared.

If you order from Royss Music you have to pay via Paypal, and all the email communications are with Hubert and Heidi, so you really are supporting a cottage industry.

It makes a change from XTC, whose debut album I also received yesterday!
