Looks like you're going to have a long wait...

I ordered my 4LP Extended version of The Song Remains The Same through them on Monday. Now I see the release date has changed from December 4th to March 32st (a typo I hope!!). Same price as Mothership at £57.50.
Pretty pissed off now.

I was thinking about the Mothership album and my conclusion, for the meantime anyway, was that Led Zep are one of those bands whose strength is consolidated in each of their albums. No matter how good the remastering JP may have weaved his majic on, I can't really see me sitting down to listen to a compilation album.

Of course, at some later date I may have a change of heart and buy it, but my wageer would go on it sitting on a shelf gathering dust while the albums get played!

I know what you mean Peter, I'm not a fan of compilations myself. I did however buy the Led Zep Remasters box set so I had some Zep on CD, but it never gets played. Somehow it just doesn't sound right when Custard Pie follows Gallows Pole.
I grew up listening to those albums and how one songs follows the other. I even miss the pops!

Just buy the 200g versoins and say goodbye to the pops.......amazing sound quality.

Yeah, I know what you mean Ryan. I already have 1,2,4 and the original version of Song Remains The Same on 200gm vinyl and will add the others in due course.
Amazing though to think I've owned some of the originals for 30 years.

I thought that, Peter. Until I bought "Love" and I've played that much more than I thought.

Hi Munch,

Yes, good idea - I don't think mine will be here in time.

just ordered mine £49.95, the release date is 10/03/08

Love though is a complete reworking of all the tracks, i was under the impression that the Mothership is a straight forward compilation album, am i correct in thinking this ?

I wouldn't call it a re-working (Love, that is). The bulk of the main tracks are just re-mastered and sometimes edited. They are separated by links made up of bits of other tracks. All cleverly done, but it's the re-mastering of the main tracks that really impresses me.

As far as Mothership is concerned, I care little that it's a compilation. I just want some of my favourite Zep tracks in half decent sound at last(if that's what we get).

I guess for me that there are some bands who just grabbed my attention an dnever let go - Led Zep is a prime example. As Steve 51 intimates, Led Zepp just nailed the music side of things on their albums. The Batles stuff, great as it is, impresses me on a different level in so far as it goes - the major differentiator bein that at I have comparatively few Beattles albums.

At £57.50 Diverse Vinyl are looking a bit pricey. They have listed a release date of 17/03/08.

The Song Remains the Same release is the same price/same date.
