Michel Petrucciani

It's great isn't it?!

You have a Forum friend visit (Rasher), listen to a few pieces of music on the old gramophone, and then go to the pub for couple of local beers.

There you meet another friend (who Rasher's never met before), and who says 'no thank you, he won't have a drink because he's just going...' but stays talking - about really interesting stuff - for an hour or more! (Could have had that drink ... or two...!)

And in the middle of this never-met-you-before conversation, the name Michel Petrucciani comes up. Rasher and other friend could, by now, talk for England (and Australia)... How great it is to hear people enthusing about music!

Me? To my shame, I'd never heard of Michel Petrucciani. But dear Rasher has addressed my ignorance! For which many thanks.

Beautiful music, full stop - but especially when you start to learn something of Petrucciani's story.

So where do I go next in the Petrucciani catalogue?

I've done a 'find' but Petrucciani seems to come up only every couple of years or so. He deserves a current thread!

And here's a bit of Petrucciani on Youtube (with, of course, links through to other pieces.)

you can safely buy almost everything that is available from him. Not TOO many variations, but WHAT he did he did great. Even without knowing his story (risking his life with every gig), his musical testament is very much wortwhile being noticed.

cheers
