Mum (the band, not the parent)

Is anyone familiar with this band? I only have one of their albums "Yesterday was Dramatic - Today is Okay" and it has really grown on me, so I have ordered their latest "Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy". Strange, almost bizarre music, but quite appealing.

Finally We Are No One is even better, and Summer Make Good not quite as good, though there's not a lot to choose between them.
The new one is a bit different in that they've lost those eerie female vocals.
Excellent band though - the fan website (mumweb) used to have a downloadable (and sanctioned) concert which was very good, but they've taken it down due to bandwidth issues.

I have been spinning "Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy" for a couple of weeks now, and I am quite taken with this unique band. Tunes range from achingly beautiful to genuinely dynamic. And they seem to know how to put together some very original sounds as well. Not to everyone's taste, but worth a listen.

Hi Steve,
I'd second Gary's view on "Finally we area No-one" being their best. Some of the Mum people also worked on the The Album Leaf's last few records - the pick of which is "In a Safe Place". Very much worth chasing up.
regards,
Giles
