I'm just about to enjoy a bottle of this with Mrs. CD555 ...

So, what are you drinking right now?

I have had three double-shot americanos so far today. So not all at once, but a good enough pace to keep the brain ticking over and coursework moving along. Smile

It would be good to meet, with or without the beer.

That is a real treat indeed, I keep a bottle I got a few years back in my museum - it is from my year of birth.

Troops are out in the streets, as well as new year, so raiding the supermarkets and the back of the cupboards - it's the old dodgy Thai whiskey that's always last !

Big Grin Winker, unfortunately you would have to go a few decades back.
Posted on: 12 April 2009 by JamieL

Loose leaf, made in pot, which was warmed first.

I well remember an old thai gentleman extolling the virtues of this very brand to me a few years ago in a bangkok bar ( and me a scotsman too)- quite horrible as I recall.

Hope things get back to normal in your part of the world.

Had some family over from Denmark last week with a 3 litre bottle of easter beer. Very nice it was too. Just the right size for sharing!

It's actually the easiest whiskey in the world to drink - tastes more like Barcadi ! The only problem is the thick head-ache it gives the following morning - laced with so many chemicals, we're not talking fine distilling here !

As for the troubles, ah, it's normal ! 4 prime-ministers in one year and something like 18 coups in the last 60+ years....This was just a little scrap to welcome in the Thai new year - I've seen worse...A bit like Sunderland on a Saturday night: Hopeless, deluded people, dressed in red running around breaking things ! Winker

Mount Edelstone 2006

Grape Variety
100% 90-year-old-vine shiraz grown in the Eden Valley wine region.

Maturation
Matured in 90% new, 10% seasoned French (67%) and American (33%) hogsheads for 21 months prior to blending and bottling.

Background
The Mount Edelstone vineyard, situated in the Eden Valley, was planted in 1912 by Ronald Angas, a descendant of George Fife Angas, who founded South Australia. Unusual for its time, it was planted solely to shiraz. The ancient 500-million-year-old soils on the vineyard are deep red-brown clay-loam to clay resulting in low yields from the nearly 100-year-old dry-grown ungrafted vines.
First bottled as a single-vineyard wine in 1952, it became recognised as one of Australia’s greatest shiraz wines.

A few years ago, a 1947 Chambertin bottled by Van der Meulen was the best wine for me ever. A second bottle about a year later was nearly undrinkable.
Old wines can be heaven or hell. But no risk no fun Winker .
