What are you drinking right now?

Copying is flattery, so all respect to Tam!

I'm just about to enjoy a bottle of this with Mrs. CD555 ...

.. while we listen to Portishead – Third.

So, what are you drinking right now?

Excellent, I bought it a year ago on my way back from SF.

Followed by a local red, 2005 - needs another year or two to maturity IMHO.

I never knew it could be that easy, my mom always forced this on me. Winker

Prairie Oyster (aka Cowboy Be-Bop):

1 Cup of tomato juice, or can of V8
1 Whole raw egg
1 Dash of Worcestershire sauce
1 Dash of salt and black pepper for seasoning
1-2 Oz. Vodka (optional)

Totally unrelated Oliver, but are you familiar with "Oysters Kilpatrick"? I had them at an "Aussie night" in Dubai last year, they were gorgeous.

Very familiar, while I like my oysters natural, once in a while I go for Kilpatrick or Rockefeller.

I thought for a while that the above was over-rated. I'm happy to report that this is not the case - Cloudy Bay is still the best Sauvignon Blanc.

And the 2006 Cloudy Bay Chardonnay has won me over from being a strict red wine addict.
I have a bottle chilling in the fridge right now.

It is not very expensive.

Or this one:

http://www.lafite.com/en/php/v..._1_4_1.php?id_vin=50

The second one is about 100X the price of the Lafitte, especially the older vintages.

It was Lafitte Rothschild, my aunt was filthy rich, and I saw the price went up a few times after giving them away. She had 81s and 61s, both very expensive, the 61s were insane.

The strange thing is even after all these years, I still see them for sale in local expensive wine stores. Don't they ever run out? And if they have so much, why so expensive?

So expensive that no one is buying them?

The correct spelling is Lafite Rothschild and not Lafitte Rothschild. That was the reason for my question above.

These are amazing wines and they don't have that much of it - I haven't even started to touch my 80s, keeping them for at least 20 years is not a problem at all - provided you store them appropirately, older vintages can become a gamble, especially if you don't know how they were kept. I have never tried any Bordeaux older than a 60s vintages but would love to. Just too much of a gamble considering the price you have to pay for it now and the chance that it might not be very good.

A very good independent local brewery, have had a tour and like their use of local sourced product. several very nice beer, better from cask but the bottled beers are nice for home drinking. The brewery will fill up laqrger containers for parties/ barbecues.

Award winning ales, include Cornish Knocker, my favourite.

Yes, you may well be right King Size. I probably should have said the best I have had, but again there are others I have tried that come very close for a lot less money. I got that Cloudy Bay at a bargain price though, which maybe influenced my judgement (as in I was getting a bit carried away!). If you know of any other very good ones then please let me know. My wife is not very keen on Sauvignon Blanc so I get the bottle to myself!
